MLRT is offering 3 exciting ways for you to participate in our 2025 MLK Day of Service:

1. Hands-On Volunteer Opportunities on Monday, January 20: Select from the exciting activities listed below. You are welcome to participate in multiple activities.

2. Donate Items to Meet Critical Community Needs:  Drop your items off at MLRT.  Check the donation wish list below.

3. Make a Charitable Gift: Your donation will be used to support and expand our MLK Day of Service projects.


 

Items Being Collected

In order to make this day a success, we are collecting the following items which will support some of our projects. Can't make it on January 20? You can donate items starting on January 2 to the appropriate bin in the MLRT vestibule.

Food insecure families need healthy food options. Join congregants in preparing salads for the Ardmore Food Pantry.

Box Lunch and A Book is a community initiative to freely provide nutritious lunches and reading enrichment during the summer.  There is a need for new and gently used book (K-8th Grade)

Make and buy friendship bracelets and take a moment to show support for Israel!  Harper Zavodnick along with teens from Tribe will be raising money for an Israeli Trauma and Rape Center for Women.

Inspect and sort clothing donated by our congregation. To benefit needy children and families served by Cradles to Crayons.

Sort all the wonderful trial sized toiletries collected from our congregation, make a cheerful note to go along with the goods and then put them all together in an attractive package!  To benefit Laurel House and the Life Center of Delaware County.

Pack nutritious snack bags for families in need. Snack bags will be packed alongside other life necessities at the Mitzvah Circle Foundation facility.

Appropriate for Religious School aged children. 

We will stuff backpacks with school supplies that have been collected by the Religious School and will contribute them to the shelter where children may not have all of these basic supplies.

Placemats will be made for Ardmore Food Pantry for use when the weekly hot meal is served to guests of the pantry.

Come visit the Bake Sale run by the teens from Tribe and help support Ardmore Food Pantry. Bakers needed!

Join with other volunteers to clean up the Gladwyne Jewish Memorial Cemetary. The group will meet at Beth David Reform Congregation (1130 Vaughan Lane in Gladwyne, far right parking lot) at 9:30 am on January 20 for the short walk to the property. Long pants and sturdy shoes are recommended. Please bring work gloves if you have them - they will be provided if not - and a supply of shovels, rakes, wheelbarrows and more will be provided.

Empty your tzedakah boxes and sort and wrap the coins in partnership with the Israel Committee.

Make no sew fleece blankets by cutting and tying knots.

Join our Junior Jammers at Saunders House to entertain and visit with the residents. All ages welcome!
